Natural hazards are posing a substantial risk to sustainable development around the globe. With the onset of climate change, the frequency and intensity of natural hazards are on the rise, specifically in the mountainous terrains with significant impacts on the communities and infrastructure.
Climate change is one of the most significant global challenges of the 21st century. It is exacerbating disaster risks, increasing the frequency and severity of disaster damage and losses, and seriously hindering our efforts to achieve the sustainable development goals. Therefore, there is an urgent need to better understand the causes, impacts, and mitigation measures of hydro-meteorological hazards under climate change in order to reduce the loss of life and damage to property.
In this regard, Karakoram International University (KIU) has successfully organized its 1st international conference in 2023.
In continuation to that, we are pleased to announce the 2nd International Conference on Climate Induced Natural Disasters and mitigation, scheduled to be held on September 25-26, 2024, at Karakoram International University, Gilgit Pakistan.
This conference serves as a crucial platform for researchers, academics, professionals, and policymakers to share their insights and findings in the realm of climate-induced disasters and mitigation.
